Temperature-Aware Virtual Data Center Embedding to Avoid Hot Spots in Data Centers

Virtual Data Center (VDC) embedding has drawn significant attention recently because of the growing need for efficient and flexible means (DC) resource allocation. Existing studies on VDC mainly focus improving DCs' utilization. However, an important problem that not been considered in solutions is creation hot spots by excessive heat dissipation air generation from racks DCs, which have adverse effects energy consumption cooling system IT equipment lifespan. To address this issue, we propose a temperature-aware scheme to avoid minimizing maximum temperature each rack. Meanwhile, also aim reduce total power scheme. A Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model heuristic algorithm are developed implement proposed Numerical results show can significantly outperform load-balanced terms rack temperature, equipment, rejection ratio.
